Non-Reactive means a material that will not cause a chemical reaction between the food you are preparing and the object you are preparing it in.

Materials like stainless steel, plastic, glass, and porcelain are non-reactive.

Pots made out of aluminum or cast iron can have a chemical reaction with the food and create flavors you are not expecting.
